Tonight's bowhunt
So I told my dad to come to this patch of oaks I know deer are feeding in. I didn't bait since a week ago, and we decided to go in at 4 and pull 2 treestsnd off the used up bait sites and relocate then in the acorns.
We went in and out across 150 yards of oaks 4x .. 1st time to pick spots, 2nd to move 1 stand, 3rd to move the other stand, 4th to go get bow and camera.
We were in the stands by 5:40, about 40 yards apart.
At 6pm i'm trying to cool down (I'm in shorts and a t-shirt sweating like a pig) im reading on njww the hot topic of the weekend and all of a sudden I hear my dad shoot (he's recurve huj ting for his 1st recurve buck And I'm supposed to be filming).. I turn to see a nice 8pt bound off 50 yards, stop, look around, then walk off.
He said it walked right up to his tree, he drew back, but decided to let it pass for a quartering away shot.. and once it passed it looked directly up his tree at him at 3 yards and jumped back into another opening and he missed at 10 yards. (Deer was alert at that point and ducked the arrow-which I guess is pretty common with recurves)
Anyway...
We ended up seeing a doe with 2 fawns come right in, 2 smaller bucks hung up after he shot and didn't come in, and right before dark 2 more bucks came right into my setup but I don't have a bucktag
Here's a cam pic of the 8 we think he missed. I have a bunch of 8s this size there but we think it was this fella..
Overall we saw 5 bucks and 3 does

Jay I never had that kind of luck . if I make a change to my tree stand location in most cases I won't see a deer for 8 days . best of luck with your father crushing a fine whitetail buck this fall
