Deer skinning station video

Unread postby dstreet » Mon May 19, 2014 9:39 pm

Here’s the link to the video Quackhead. I’ll work on making one for squirrels for you

We made this and used it a bunch. It was a little harder with a big buck but it worked great with the does. We’ve probably skinned close to 25 deer on it since we built it. There’s a few things I want to change on it. I want to pull the deck up and pour concrete and build a platform on top to shoot our bows off of.

The old way works too but way more control with the skinning station.

How high is the top beam?
Getting ready to build a butchering shed and would be very smart to include that.

We got the longest 6x6’s lowes had. I can’t remember if they were 12 or 14 feet. I know its around 10’ high. I would go higher if we did it again, but ours does work. They are harder to skin after hanging but 90% of the deer we skin are shot during bow season. We skin and quarter them that night and put the meat in a refrigerator for a few days before butchering. It takes me around 15 min to skin and quarter a deer. I can do it by myself but its nice to have help. With the boat hoist you can easily control the height your working at and I can get my little sister to turn the other crank for me while I skin down. Sometimes the hide rips and you have to poke a new hole for the hook or wrap it and tuck it back in. A little practice and it works pretty well. I had some leftover plywood from a job so I used that for the floor but I want to pour concrete instead.
