Allegheny Sniper Challenge

Unread postby Thedeerwhisperer » Wed May 14, 2014 9:52 am

So I have been quiet on the site trying to get ready for my first competition of the year. I leave tomorrow to shoot one of the top matches in tatical shooting called ASC (Allegheny Sniper Challenge) the match takes place in the mountains of Seneca Rocks West Vrginia, to where we are climbing to altitudes of 3500 feet and shooting targets from 100-1400 yds. There are 60 stages to shoot over 3days all set up to test your marksmanship skills, from unknown ranges to where you have to mil them yourself, stages to force you to shoot under stress, High angle and low angle shots, being in the mountains we have plenty high winds to challenge us, and ton of postional shooting...etc. Just a great time where I get to meet a lot of great folks, see friends I haven't seen in awhile, and get to shoot a ton over 3 day competition.

Here is some of the gear I am bringing along:

Gun-7mm Winchester Short Mag
Ammo- My handloads-180 grain berger hybrids

Thanks guys!

Yeah Longbeard...I hope so to haha. I have tested them to 700yds here and they did real well, problem is once you hit 900-1400yds is where the true test comes in to play, but this load was extremely consitent over the chronograph with an average of 4fps difference per shot which is excellent considering factory ammo can be upwards of 50fps difference which is not ideal past a few hundred yds. The load was shooting better than 1/2 inch groups at 100 so I don't think the bullets will have a problem, but the nut behind the trigger. well thats a different story haha.

Piece of cake!!! Haha just messin DW. Good luck buddy I know you'll show them back woods boys how to do it. Love the 7mm brother. One day I'll make it up to your farm and you can show me how to shoot mine. Lol been a while since I shot it. But haven't shot at anything over 200 yds. 1400yds involves some science and math! Again, good luck man. Keep us posted on the outcome

You should write the outdoorsmen voice and all 200 Bullets and etch it into the fluting on your barrel. Maybe get the bolt engraved?? Good luck fella!!
