March 1st Striper Season 2016

March 1st Striper Season 2016

Unread postby ol timer » Thu Feb 25, 2016 9:38 am

Well the Groundhog said Early Spring! :D and with just 5 more days till March 1st. I'm ready to kick off my 2016 Striper season. Plenty of Stripers never leave NJ and most are in the back Bays and Rivers just waiting for a fresh meal. I enjoy catching the small late winter bass in the surf also, more challenging with cold water temps, they tend to stay in small schoolie cells in calm clear water, which can produce a lot of action. But my fishing will be in the rivers or back bays using Bloodworms and Salted Clams. I like salted in spring just seem to work better. So I'm sure most guys are ready as I am to wet a line and get going so good Luck to all this Year. And Remember to practice Catch and Release.

Good luck ol timer. I will stick to fillet and release thanks. Blackened striper tastes to good and is to hard for me to get to let swim away.
