Delaware River Striper Tourney

Delaware River Striper Tourney

Unread postby netmyfish2 » Sun Apr 09, 2017 11:36 am

Second year in the tourney, learned a lot from last year where we should have landed some tanks but my rigs, for lack of a better term, donkey dung the bed.

Tied 40 lb flouro leader on non offset circle hooks, used fish finder rigs with 4 oz weights all on lighter gear, like smallmouth/largemouth fishing gear, to be honest. 7 foot medium fast rods.

0 issues with gear this year.

Winds were blowing 17+, conditions were just not good for my low bow bass jet boat but we muscled the 8 mile rip to get to my top 2 spots on the river.

High tide is my prime time to be on these spots, 2 hours pre and post high tide are my most productive times.

We got on 5 striper and one 2+ foot blue cattie.

We came in 2nd place in the Calcutta, lost the tourney by 2.5 inches. We had a 37'' and a 28.5'' as the 2 biggest. 37 took 2nd, 39.5 won. $1k to the winner. $0 to 2nd...Cannot wait to win it next year.ImageImageImage
