2018 NJ Spring Gobbler Season in review
Considering the challenges of missed time in the field, limited gobbling, adverse weather and overall limited bird sightings in general for my 2018 Spring Gobbler Season, I consider myself fortunate to have connected on 5 nice Longbeards this year. There was a sixth that almost made the list, however an awkward angle and the bird being on top of me resulted in my letting him walk as opposed to taking a less than high percentage shot. I do believe that this particular bird was one that came in with the big one I shot during the "B" week and subsequently videoed with my camera as it attacked the Tom I had just put on the ground and then proceeded to try to pick a fight with my Avian X decoy.
Below is my 2018 NJ Spring Gobbler Season in review.
A Week & B Week birds.
2018 A Week – 23.0 Lbs. 1&1/8 Spurs. 4.75 Beard (Beard Rot) Shotgun
2018 B Week – 24.5 Lbs. 1&1/4 Spurs. 9.75 Beard Shotgun
C Week Birds
2018 C Week – 22.0 Lbs. 1.0 Spurs. 9.0 Beard Crossbow
2018 C Week – 21.0 Lbs. 1.0, 0.75 Spurs. 10.0 Beard Shotgun
D Week Bird
2018 D Week – 19.0 Lbs. 1.0, 0.25 Spurs. 10.125 Beard Crossbow
I packed the turkey gear away till next spring, I even think a tear rolled down my cheek as I was doing it.

Thanks guys.
I'm hoping this cold rainy weather doesn't have to big of an affect on this years hatch. Haven't seen many polts running around yet.
