Rockport flounder gigging guide report
Everytime it seems like I go to the gas station to fill up with fuel I get approached by people amazed that I am still getting flounder almost everyone think that because the run is over all the flounder are gone. Well fact is many flounder remain in the back bays or head right back in after spawning. Flounder gigging has produced solid limits with some night packed with some very hit action here in the Rockport Port Aransas Tx area. I jad one night we gigged 30 flounder in 2 hours which is awesome any day of the year. Look for fish hanging around the edge of the flats and along the main channels.

Re: Rockport flounder gigging guide report
Kinda like frog gigging. At night flounder swim up shallow and lay on the bottom and wait for prey in 3 - 12 inches of water. We use a flat bottom boat. The outboard motor allows to get to the grounds. Once there people stand on the bow that is wrap with above and under water lights, a fam motor slowly pushes the boat while everyone looks for flounder laying on the sea floor once we see one we use a long gig to stab them and flip them in the boat. Also we gig sheepshead and black drum when we see them as well. Here is a picture of my boat. As you can see its a custom slick boat design to float really shallow the air motor above the outboard is steered from the bow. The air motor also turn a alternaor powering all the lights. While gigging crabs shrimp stingrays dolphins and lots of other sealife is seen.
