Holders of Youth Licenses can take advantage of the Youth Pheasant Hunt this Saturday, October 31. Ten Wildlife Management Areas will be heavily stocked with birds for youth hunters under the direct supervision of a NJ-licensed, non-shooting adult. Eight areas are open in the morning for guided hunts only; after 1pm they open to all youth hunters. Two areas are open all day to licensed youth hunters.

Openings remain on the Peaslee, Colliers Mills, and Assunpink WMAs for guided hunts; contact Nate Figley at nathanfigley@dep.nj.gov or at 856-629-0552 for information and to register.

For hunt details, see page 23 of the Hunting Digest ( http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/dighnt15.htm ). For information on the NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife's Take A Kid Hunting Program, visit http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/takekidhunting.htm .

My son will be hunting for the first time on Saturday. We are registered to hunt the morning at Winslow. I'm pumped. Can't wait to hear them pheasant flush and cackle. Lol

NJDEP YOUTH Pheasant hunt openings

Unread postby Annabiz » Fri Jun 17, 2016 4:40 pm

I would agree, this is a great oppritunity for youth hunters to get a chance to hunt without others hunting with them. I know I had a blast with my little brother, because I got to film his first pheasant. It is a good time also to teach how to hunt pheasants and how to hunt them safely.
